The project

Greenfields Housing in Braintree, Essex required Legionella control services for its properties. Guardian carries out monthly visits to around 20 homes, in order to complete statutory water hygiene monitoring, as recommended in the HSE’s ACoP L8 document.

The solution

Guardian has been working for Greenfields Housing since February 2012, with its monthly visits covering the following:

  • Temperature monitoring
  • Cleaning and disinfection works
  • Legionella and bacterial sampling
  • Shower descale and disinfections

As part of the contract, Guardian also provides additional activities, such as Legionella Risk Assessment and remedial works to water systems.

Guardian’s engineers are scheduled to attend sites at pre-arranged times to ensure the residents are expecting our visits. Access can be a challenge in residential properties, so our engineers understand the importance of sticking to times, minimising disruption to occupants.

The outcome

We have a dedicated engineer working on the account and he has built up knowledge of the sites and their specific requirements. Our online reporting and monitoring database, GuardianCare, allows clients to see a real-time view of the visit status; engineers upload the visit reports immediately via the mobile tablets. Any recommendations or out of specification results are instantly highlighted to the Greenfields contract manager and actions can be taken immediately where necessary.
